Open call for a public outdoor installation at Äksi, Southern Estonia

We are looking for artists or artist groups to create an outdoor artwork for the facade of the Ice Age Centre building in Äksi, Estonia. The wall piece will be unveiled as the first event in the ‘Look into my Ice’ project, a series of exhibitions, performances, and workshops curated by Maria Helen Känd between 2023 and 2024 and organized by the Association for Estonian-German Cultural and Art Exchange. ‘Look into my Ice’ is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 program.
Eligibility: We welcome proposals from artists who are residents of Austria, Norway, Estonia, or Germany. Applications from students will not be considered.
What you get: Selected artists will receive a range of benefits, including a planning trip, a residency stay that includes accommodation and travel costs, an artist fee of €3000, and production costs that will vary depending on the budget, with a minimum of €5000 and a maximum of €7000. In addition, there will be a release event at the end of August 2023, as well as communication and PR support as part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu programme.
