2022 MMCA International Research Fellowship

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) is pleased to invite applications for 2022 MMCA International Research Fellowship.

The two selected participants conduct their individual scholarly research for 10 weeks from September 29 to December 8. At the end of the program, MMCA holds a seminar opened to the public in which they present research papers. The participants are paired with advisors who provide intellectual support and guidance throughout the program. They have access to all exhibitions, international conferences, and events of MMCA where they can engage in conversations with museum staffs, artists and intellectuals and discuss about the topics they are focusing on. The fellowship also includes visits to other museums, gallery shows, biennales, and residencies in Korea.

Eligibility: The program is open to art research professionals including curators, art historians, critics and museum staff, who are interested in developing and sharing their research ideas related to Korean modern and contemporary art. Applicants should be aged between 25-45, and fluency in English is required. As part of Cultural Partnership Initiative Project (CPI), MMCA International Research Fellowship is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea. Accordingly, only the professionals who hold citizenship of the ODA (Official Development Assistance) recipient countries (defined by the OECD) are eligible to apply. What you get: The participants is provided with a round-trip airfare in economy class, an individual studio in the MMCA Changdong Residency with shared bathroom and communal kitchen, and monthly stipend of 900,000 KRW.
