Artist in Residence
Cryptic Open Call: Down the Wire Live
Updated: 26 April 2022
Down the Wire Live is a six-month collaborative project between B’sarya (Egypt) and Cryptic (UK). Both organisations will support artists, enabling them to participate in a collaborative research and development project resulting in a live performance/event in both Glasgow and Alexandria.
Eligibility: You must be a UK based artist to apply for this opportunity. You can be working across any discipline including music, AV, visual arts, and at any stage in your career.
What you get: Selected artists will have the chance to develop a collaborative work with an artist based in Egypt. The research and development project will be cultivated through 4 week long residencies in both Glasgow and Alexandria. The artists will be required to give public talks or workshops and share the outcome of the exchange (performance, installation etc) in Alexandria and Glasgow in early 2023. This is a chance for artists to share their working practice, be immersed in cross-cultural exchange, and establish artistic synergies across the globe with the support of Cryptic (Glasgow) and B’sarya (Alexandria). The final artists selected for the residency exchange will be given a weekly fee of £600 plus travel, visa costs, accommodation, and per diems will be provided.
