Tokyo Arts and Space Open Call: International Creator Residency Program 2023

(TOKAS) is now calling for “International Creator Residency Program (Individual Projects and Theme Projects).”
The “Theme Projects” for the period from May to July 2023, aim to invite two distinguished and highly motivated international creators who would engage in creative activities based on the theme “Ecology around the City.” The creators who work on the theme will seek to actively exchange ideas on cultural differences in thoughts, recognitions, actions and languages with two local creators, while working independently on their own projects. The results of their residency will be presented at the Open Studio and the Result Presentation Exhibition.
Eligibility: Those creators who:
- practice in any of the following cultural/ artistic fields: visual art, film, design, and architecture
- Reside outside of Japan
- Have 5 years or more of experience in his/her specialized area of expertise
- Have sufficient ability to communicate in English
- Creators working as a duo can apply (A duo consisting of at least one creator residing outside of Japan is eligible)
- Students except for Ph.D. candidates cannot apply.
What you get: Living space (single room), shared studio, airfare, living expenses (per diem) and fee for creative work/project.
