Portrait Commission of Dr Risien Russell

The Queen Square BAME Network would like to commission a portrait that recognises and celebrates the life and work of Dr Russell. We would like a portrait that depicts Dr Russell for the pioneering researcher, teacher, and neurology consultant that he was. As one of Britain’s first black Consultants he pioneered his work despite undergoing prejudices and biases.

Eligibility: We are inviting suitably experienced artists to submit an expression of interest to be considered for this commission. We welcome expressions of interest from artists working in the medium of oil painting. We especially welcome applicants who identify as Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Global Majority artists.
