Tender opportunity - Arts Producer: Alexander Stadium Public Art Scheme

Birmingham City Council is seeking an experienced arts producer (freelancer, collective or organisation) to work with the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment Project Team. The producer will be responsible for shortlisting a range of artists and appointing an experienced artist/s for what could be a range of site-specific place-sensitive public art commissions.

The commissioning theme is to reflect and celebrate the Stadium’s social, cultural and sporting heritage, it’s significance as a landmark venue in the lead up to, during and beyond the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and celebrate the role sport and culture play in bringing communities together.

Contract to run from asap 2021 with artwork/s to be installed (depending on the nature of the artwork) Spring/Summer 2022.

Eligibility: Birmingham City Council is particularly interested in receiving expressions of interest from individuals and organisations experienced in managing complex Public Realm / Public Art design programmes, shortlisting, appointing/ commissioning artists working in public realm contexts and who are able to demonstrate a meaningful connection with Perry Barr, and Birmingham.

What you get: up to £10,000 producer fee, Total art commissioning budget: £90,000.
