Writer in Residence
ArtsEquator’s Reading Group for Critics Open Call
Updated: 28 August 2018
ArtsEquator’s Reading Group for Critics is a monthly reading circle for performance critics, reviewers, art writers and editors. We’ll read and discuss assigned texts on a range of issues, such as the changing landscape of performance making, the obligations of the critic, the ethics of reviewing, the participant-observer relationship in newer forms such as immersive/participatory theatre, expanded cinema and more.
The program is targeted at deepening the knowledge and critical dexterity of the art writer. Each text is a springboard to open, in-depth discussions, moderated by ArtsEquator’s resident theatre critic, Corrie Tan and managing editor Kathy Rowland. Some sessions will be led by guest moderators (senior writers, artists).
This reading group is open to ten (10) experienced writers, who are committed to taking the time to read, think and have substantive discussions with their peers on current discourses in arts criticism. Members will not be required to write.
Deadline 15 September 2018
