Updated: 25 May 2018
The biennial art exhibition has become an expected formula for garnering international attention to a contemporary art scene, though it often involves a myriad of other intentions and results, intended or not. Biennialization, Biennialization, Biennialization: The Bangkok Syndrome is a two-day symposium focusing on current and historical trends in the increasingly ubiquitous biennial format. Taking place on August the 11th and 12th, in Bangkok, Thailand, where three separate large-scale bi-annual exhibitions are to be inaugurated in this same year: the Bangkok Biennial, the Bangkok Art Biennale and the Thailand Biennale.
