Curzon Street Station was first opened in 1838 and was the first direct rail link between Birminghams City Centre and London. The building is of significant historical importance to the city as it was from here that Birmingham-made goods were transported globally during The Industrial Revolution. The station ceased to operate as a rail terminus in 1966, but survived demolition when it was purchased by Birmingham City Council and granted Grade I Listed status. The station is now used as an important gallery space in the regeneration area of Eastside.
