About

This exhibition marks the 150th anniversary of Art Treasures of the United Kingdom, the largest ever art exhibition in the UK, held here in Manchester in 1857.

Held at Old Trafford, Art Treasures featured 16,000 exhibits and attracted over 1.3 million visitors, including Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens and John Ruskin.

This exhibition both celebrates this major artistic event and brings back to Manchester some of the outstanding pictures and artworks which were on show.

The exhibition includes works by British artists such as Gainsborough, Turner, Constable and the Pre-Raphaelites, as well as European old masters including Michelangelo.
