Evocative Nudes Grace the Walls at Heist Anti-Gallery

About

HEIST is proud to announce the first ever UK exhibition of works by the Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange, on display from 2-30 October. The body of works will be presented under the curation of the new Gallery Director, Tyrone Wood, who brings a wealth of artistic experience to this role. Co-founder of Scream Gallery, and a committee member of the Royal Academy, Wood could not be better placed to steer this brave exhibition. “Traditionally the depiction of women as nudes in art had an air of objectification. What I love about Marc Lagrange's work is that, although he captures nudes, his women are empowering. Seemingly captured at a different period in history, his images are nonetheless very turn of the century in their depiction of women. These are woman who are strong, confident, empowered and who celebrate being female.'' — Tyrone Wood Lagrange's photographs are a reminder of the great works of Helmet Newton & Peter Lindbergh. The Belgian photographer has a reputation as one of the most talented in the industry and his distinctive technique sets him apart. He is famous for shooting with large Polaroids, using their texture to create an iconic and cinematic feel to his work. Combining the glamour of classic Hollywood with the sensibility of an Old Master painting, Lagrange's alluring heroines seem at ease and approachable - yet just tantalisingly out of reach. Located in a residential property in Notting Hill, HEIST's offline space offers an immersive art experience for fine art photography lovers. The space combines photography and performance art to create an unforgettable, experiential engagement with the artworks. The exhibition of Lagrange's works at HEIST promises to provoke the senses, offering an intriguing exploration of female empowerment. The pieces delve into opulence, femininity and eroticism whilst maintaining a commanding stillness. The exhibition articulates a universal narrative to viewers, made possible within the unique immersive environment of the HEIST anti gallery.
