All the King's Men

About

'All the King's Men' is a developing photography project and will be the first solo show by London based photographer Dee King. The project currently consists of 24 portraits of men who have each accomplished something significant. The series is made up of men from a diverse range of professions from, actors, artists, directors and writers to humanitarians and Queen's Councillors. Among them, Christopher Richardson and William Burdett-Coutts, both major contributors and instigators of the Edinburgh Fringe, and Sir Roy Strong, former director of the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A. King captures the persona of her sitters through a subtle but intimate exchange between photographer and subject. King seeks to unravel hidden depths that transcend the various layers of masculinity that cloak today's man. The project sets out to engage with these accomplished and respected male figures, who give so much to their disciplines but may be relatively unknown to the public. Through this engagement, King utilises the moments of intimacy to capture a moment of honesty in her sitters. The portraits form an impressive series of faces, expressions and reactions.
