The largest exhibition of Asia Triennial Manchester 2014 (ATM14), Harmonious Society will feature over 30 major artists from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong exhibited across six city centre spaces: Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, ArtWork, The John Rylands Library, Manchester Cathedral, Museum of Science & Industry and National Football Museum.”‚”‚”‚ Harmonious Society features a wide range of work, including painting, audio and video art, large and small scale installations and performance pieces. From a mesmerising artificial sun, to a deconstructed Tianamen square, from immersive tunnels to breathing books, Harmonious Society showcases unique and unforgettable artwork, created in response to the ATM14 theme of Conflict and Compassion. The majority of works are site-specific, based on artists' recent visits to Manchester and examine the current era of unprecidented social, ideological and cultural transformation.
