About

SIB is delighted to announce a solo presentation by critically acclaimed emerging artist Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau to start our autumn gallery programme. Communal Juicing will be an exhibition of new sculpture and drawings, as well as a performance by the artist. The exhibition will showcase recent work focusing on the connection between the concept of abjection and current discourse around objects. The works sit uncomfortably in the gap between things and representations of things, exploiting the inherent instability of cultural materials produced and maintained by language. The Cheesedough Series and The Protuberance Series are sculptural objects made from abject materials, including cheese puffs, semen, the protein supplement Creatine, vegetable oil, pubic hair, and grape soda. Displayed on tables and on wooden ledges in groups referencing bodily forms and monumental sculpture, these sculptures will be exhibited alongside Drawings From an Infinitely Ongoing Series Cataloguing Every Object, Both Real and Imaginary, in The Entire Universe. These framed pen on paper drawings are a continuing body of work featuring real" versions of objects ranging from Beef to Lars von Trier
