About

16/10/13 - 27/10/13. Paul Granjon. Dynamo Wrekshop is a participatory manufacturing unit where recycled electronics are turned into sustainably-powered gizmos. Contact Paul if you want to take part in the Dynamo Wrekshop. In the commercial environment of Arcade Cardiff, Queens Arcade, Cardiff CF10 2BY, Paul Granjon opens two distinct spaces. Unit 17 is turned into an operational manufacturing unit, the Dynamo Wrekshop. A participatory make-and-think-tank where disused electronic consumer goods are dismantled and recombined, with the help of a 3D printer, to make sustainably powered gizmos which will be sold in the shop. Contact Paul if you want to take part in the Dynamo Wrekshop. Unit 3B hosts a family of Thingy Robots, small autonomous machines specially popular with children. The colourful robots are constructed with recycled parts and open source components. Come and mingle with the Thingies as they move about and go through their simple cyber-motions, including a remote-control state where visitors can drive a robot using a phone. Paul Granjon is an artist based in Cardiff. He is interested in in the co-evolution of humans and machines, imagining solutions for alternative futures and minimising human impact on the planet's resources. He builds robots and other machines for shows in performances, galleries and festivals and also create temporary factories and other events where people can join in making, thinking, and playing.
