Hidden World

The Little Black Gallery is proud to announce its summer show: HIDDEN WORLD - featuring still life images by Gered Mankowitz, and landscapes by Victoria Upton, from 2-31 July 2012.

Gered Mankowitz is one of the greatest British rock photographers. His images of Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, and many other rock legends are iconic and highly collectable. What is lesser known is that Gered has been collecting objects for more than twenty years, watching and helping them decay and rust, and photographing them. These images are now being exhibited for the first time.

Talking of his new work Gered said: "The transition of everyday objects into useless items of rusting decay hid a beauty that has fascinated me for many years. Finally I feel that I have found a technique that captures this hidden world."

The Little Black Gallery is proud to also introduce travel and reportage photographer Victoria Upton. For HIDDEN WORLD she has produced a series of photographic montages of the Dorset coastline. She uses a broad pallet of materials including oils and plaster combined with her photographs, which are layered and manipulated to make these original pieces of work.
