13:00 - 13:45
A fascinating, free talk that will give you a rare insight into the V&A's vast photography collection and the running of a world-class archive.
As part of the London Festival of Photography 2012 James Stevenson, Photographic Manager at the Victoria and Albert Musuem, leads a talk about the V&A's photography collection, with an emphasis on why the protection of photographic archives is important to the history of the institution and how it continues to be a priority in an almost electronic world. The talk will be illustrated by images from all periods of the studio's history.
The V&A undoubtedly houses one of the most impressive photographic collections in the world. This talk will explain the origins of the V&A's Photographic Studio and how the collection is archived.
