THE NULL AND VOID PRESENTS: `TAKE THAT´ - Collaborative Sculpture & Groupshow

In questioning tropes of masculinity in the age of post-feminist theory, The NULL&VOID venture into their first truly collaborative work of art. By embracing the somewhat dated concept of classical sculpture, they have committed to a group effort which dilutes the notion of authorship even further, in addition to the anonymity offered by the collective identity. As in the previous shows, `TATE New Cross´, `Anonymat´ and `Frozen´, the bleeding edge of contemporary art once again unravels it´s painfully relevant presence in the heart of South East London. By taking place alongside the Goldsmiths BA Fine Art degree show, `TAKE THAT!´ ambitiously seeks to challenge the institutional framing of art, covering the vast trajectory from Institutional Critique to Hyper-Criticality by juxtaposing
the strategies of deliberate failure and megalomania in order to create a paradox convergence of the rhizomatic multitude inherent in the group´s ecclectic nature and it´s double-bluff dilletantism. At the same time the highly mannered professionalism in The NULL&VOID´s visual communication raises questions about the orthodoxies reflected in the art world´s investment in cultural production and it´s connections to the fields of power and class. Once more the most pressing questions are: `Who is the author, where is the viewer, what is at stake and why should anyone care?´ To find out the truth, come to the opening of `TAKE THAT!´ on Thursday, the 17th of June 2010 from 7 PM! You will never have to attend any art exhibitions again, since every possible question will have been erradicated by the micro-dystopic tour de force you will witness.
