About

Part of a series of five individual talks about the curation and exhibition of art work which will be led by five prominent curation and exhibition experts. The talks will provide a range of informational sessions or lectures about various stages of curation and exhibition. These sessions are ideal for art students, art collectors, artists and anyone else who is interested in learning the processes involved in collecting art and what goes into making a successful exhibition. The talks are open to those who could be new to collecting art, or exhibiting art, and want more information or those who already have an interest and experience. Saturday 26th June 11am- 12pm talk repeated again 12.30-1.30pm Diana Ali. Visual artist and independent curator. www.dianaali.com Diana Ali, born in Manchester, is a Visual Artist and Curator. Her current research explores correspondence, dialogue and connectivity through instructional methods to global participants and, in turn, this extends to using curatorial strategies as an arts practice. As an artist she has exhibited in the TINAG Festival in London; as part of the Roaming Biennial in Tehran; Other Asia's exhibition ‘ReDo Pakistan' in Karachi, Pakistan, and her text work has featured in The Disarmory Newspaper, New York. Her curatorial projects include ‘Subversive Correspondence', a touring exhibition in Bristol and London; ‘Dialogues: A Fake Romance?' in Swansea and ‘Up & Coming' at the CUC in Liverpool. She is also a Fine Art lecturer and workshop leader. She is based in Nottingham, UK. Outline of the talk. Her talk will focus on how her curatorial projects are an extension of her evolving arts practice where the themes and strategies link in with the ongoing practice but simultaneously attempting to add an objective and critical perspective. Her work cannot exist without the involvement and participation of others where response and reciprocation is an integral part of the dialogue of the work.
