Talk by Jen Wu: London-based artist-curator

About

Part of a series of five individual talks about the curation and exhibition of art work which will be led by five prominent curation and exhibition experts. The talks will provide a range of informational sessions or lectures about various stages of curation and exhibition. These sessions are ideal for art students, art collectors, artists and anyone else who is interested in learning the processes involved in collecting art and what goes into making a successful exhibition. The talks are open to those who could be new to collecting art, or exhibiting art, and want more information or those who already have an interest and experience. Saturday 15th May 11am- 1.30pm Jen Wu. Temporary Contemporary Art Gallery. http://www.tempcontemp.co.uk/ Jen Wu is a London-based artist-curator whose practice inflects upon the movements of subjective and collective agency, identity, and liberation expressed in recent projects through curation, architecture and event. She co-founded temporarycontemporary with Anthony Gross in 2004- an independent, artist-run space in Deptford, south-east London. In 2006, temporarycontemporary became a roving entity, presenting exhibitions including Metropolis Rise: New Art from London (2006) - a grassroots survey of the London scene with over 50 artists, the first survey of British art in China; and Event Horizon (2008-09) a three-month ‘occupation' within the Royal Academy of Arts forming a live account of British art at the convergence of sculpture, theatre, and DIY social culture. Jen was also a curatorial fellow at the ICA from 2006-08, culminating in its all-night transformation into a nightclub-rave-happening, and has curated screenings and events for LUX / Whitechapel and the V&A.
