Earthly Delights: new works by Alexander 6 and Hannah Crisp
8. Dec - 14. Dec 09 / ended 242 Space12-6pm daily (12-10pm Thursday 10 December)
Joint show of photography, illustration and painting - London-based artist and illustrator Alexander Innes uses pen, paint and pixel to create work which is accessible, amusing and arousing. Graphic novel aesthetics, kaleidescopeic cityscapes and femme fatales with impossible legs meet in a world of glossy drips, flicks and confidence tricks.
Working predominantly as a commercial artist, Alexander 6 creates work for clients from the worlds of interior design, theatre, music, fashion, and luxury. Recent work includes bespoke commissions for Diesel, David Collins, Exposure Studio, The Queen of Hoxton and The Connaught Hotel.
Hannah Crisp is a London-based photographer fascinated by the conflict of myth, magic and reason.
With a distinctive portraiture style, Hannah captures images that force the viewer to work out how her subject-matter has been constructed. Cinematic and uplifting, Hannah's work aims to transform everyday spaces into new and thrilling scenes. By physically 'building' a photograph with makeshift props and set pieces, the process becomes just as important as the end result.
This new body of work for Earthly Delights consists of atmospheric portraiture and theatrical trickery, and uses unsettling camera angles and deeply saturated colour to elevate her ordinary subjects into new and mythical surroundings.
