Courage to Refuse… the FlatScreen discussion

Ahmed Najar, (Gazan), Uri Fruchtman (Israeli Refusenik), Jenny Najar (former Director Palestinian Solidarity Campaign) and Ahmed Masoud (writer Go to Gaza - Drink the Sea) in conversation with Emma Saunders (Human Rights lawyer).

In the light of unfolding events in the Middle East this New Year we have chosen to show the 2006 DVD commission Courage to Refuse – a collaboration between artists within the Beaconsfield network reflecting common artistic and humanitarian concerns.

The subject of the work is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and our informal meeting of minds on Saturday will give some unique insights to the realities behind the news headlines: the motivations of individuals within the Israeli military who refuse to serve in the “occupied territories”, the views of activists and campaigners who are now living in exile and reflections on the role that artistic action might play.
