Ormeau Baths Gallery presents a FREE workshop by The Biomuse Trio, Saturday 15th January at 2pm. The Biomuse Trio was founded in 2008 to perform computer chamber music integrating traditional classical performance, laptop processing of sound, and the transduction of bio-signals for the control of musical gesture. The work of the ensemble encompasses hardware design, audio signal processing, bio-signal processing, composition, imp...rovisation, and gesture choreography. The Biomuse Trio consists of Gascia Ouzounian, violin, Ben Knapp, biomuse, and Eric Lyon, computer. This workshop will expand on the capacity for art, and specifically McKeown's work to investigate and evoke states of mind. The workshop aims to explore techniques and concepts behind a piece of music that is currently being made by the Biomuse Trio. The composition 'Sleeping and Waking Minds' proposes a novel idea: that art can emerge as a process of evolving, collective conciousness. In the piece, performers are connected to EEG Monitors. As they move between different states of conciousness, their brainwaves drive the generation of music, which changes according to shifts in brainwave activity.
