Virtual degree shows showcase the next generation of talent from University of the Arts London
For the first time the work of some of the world’s brightest new stars of art, design, communication and fashion will be available to a worldwide audience with the launch of Showtime, an online gallery showcasing the work of University of the Arts London final year students.
Showtime has been developed to provide art fans around the world with a sneak preview of the next generation of creative stars before they embark on their professional careers. Although more than 50,000 people visit the University’s annual degree shows, the demand to see the work of the next generation of cutting-edge designers, painters and sculptors is so great that Showtime was created to satisfy this need.
Visitors to Showtime can follow in the footsteps of canny collectors who bought student works of University of the Arts. They will also be able to contact the artist directly and commission one-off pieces of work.
Sir Michael Bichard, Rector of University of the Arts London, says: “If anyone ever doubts that London is at the very heart of creativity in Europe they should visit the final year shows and now they can, regardless of where they are in the world. With a snapshot of this year’s unique talent online, art collectors and fans from New York to Beijing will be able to be part of an annual explosion of creativity.”
