An evening of performance art curated by Switch

with new work by
Justin Allen & Ewelina Kolaczek
Mark Butcher & Ewelina Kolaczek
and Rachel Parry

For one evening only Switch take over Gallery32 for Performances That Kill - new work created in response to Charles Gatewood's photography.

For the last 40 years Gatewood has faithfully and lovingly documented American sub-cultures - from legendary Beats William Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, through the excesses of Mardi Gras and naturist gatherings, to the sex radicals and body-modders of the West Coast. His work is radical, inherently performative and utterly exhilirating.

Through intervention and performance four UK-based artists perform their responses to Gatewood's work. All of the work has been created for this event, including a new solo piece by Rachel Parry.

Performances That Kill takes place at Gallery32, where Gatewood's work is being exhibited and sold for the first time in the UK. The work will be photo-documented by Gatewood himself.

Performances That Kill is free but space is limited - to attend please RSVP by email to bookings@switchperformance.co.uk

This innovative event has been commissioned by art salon À Rebours, who are curating and producing the Gatewood exhibition.
