Event detail
Matthew Hodson grew up in small village in Yorkshire Dales, which may explain why he sights his favourite things as wind, dogs and tree's. However the creative pull of the city was stronger than the these and he escaped the countryside as soon as he could.
After discovering the world of alternative comics, Matthew used this medium as an outlet for his weird, rude and melancholy ideas. Idea's which where propelled further while under the tutorage of Nigel Robinson, Marcus Oakely and Mr Bingo. Having adopted the simplistic line drawing style of his piers, but continuing to use the medium of comic books and text Matthew has evolved this approach into a mode of his own. One that continually references contemporary culture and contains much darker undertones.
Matthew's comics and illustrations can often be found on the pages of Broadsheet newspapers and magazine's. Now residing in leeds he is also part of an exciting new of new young talent that is currently emerging from the city.
The exhibition will include giant sized comic strips and illustrations from Matthew's latest work, as well as a pictorial history of his comic books as they have changed and evolved over the year.
