AWARDS: The Charlotte Stevenson Awards: Two £500 awards for the best in show.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Most importantly, there will be no advance application forms. Works from the same artist will not be hung together. In the event of there being more work submitted than can be accommodated, each artist will be represented in the exhibition.
Up to 3 two-dimensional works can be submitted. Two-dimensional work must be no larger than 635mm (25 inches) in width, length or depth(including frame). Works must be ready to hang with wire or mirror plates (we are sorry but we cannot accept clip frames).
All works will be rigorously measured when submitted. No exceptions will be made.
One three-dimensional work can be submitted. Three-dimensional work must be no larger than 635mm (25 inches) in width, length or depth (including plinth if supplied). All works will be rigorously measured when submitted. No exceptions will be made.
Video works must be supplied looped (this means that the DVD must be programmed to automatically loop without relying on the loop feature of the DVD player) with a 14 inch combo unit (14inch TV with built in DVD player). Only ONE combo unit can be supplied by each artist. The limit of 3 works still pertains (i.e A maximum of three works in video can be looped onto one DVD). No exceptions will be made.
Each work submitted must belabelled with Name, Address, Title, Date and Price (inclusive of 33% gallery commission).
The submission fees must be paid at the time of submissionand are as follows:
FULL PRICE: £6 for one work, £12 for two works, £18 for three works.
CONCESSIONARY PRICE: Unwaged, full-time students, over 65’s and members of the Friends of Cafe Gallery Projects Scheme: £5.00 for one work, £10 for two works, £15 for three works. Proof of status WILL be required to qualify for concessions.
PRICE FOR PAID-UP MEMBERS of the Bermondsey Artists’ Group: Up to 3 works can be submitted for total cost of £6.00.
Works must be submitted directly to the gallery on Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th or Monday 17th November 2008,
between 11am and 4pm.
Postal submissions will no longer be accepted. No other dates are permissible.
When submitting work please be aware that, if it does not sell, you will be required to collect it from the gallery on Sunday 14th December between 2 – 4pm, Monday 15th December between 11am – 4pm or Tuesday 16th December between 11am – 4pm. No exceptions will be made. There is no possibility of storage. Uncollected works will be discarded on Wednesday, 17th December 2008.
Another person can deliver your work provided that they have your written permission for the works to be entered.
No exceptions will be made.
Full payment must be made on submission of works by cash or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to “The Bermondsey Artists’ Group”. NO DEBIT OR CREDIT CARDS OF ANY SORT CAN BE ACCEPTED.
The decision of gallery staff is final. We reserve the right not to hang works that, in the opinion of the Council of Management, are racist, sexist or otherwise demeaning. In all instances, the decision of the Council of Management is final.
AWARDS: The decision of the selectors will be final. No alternatives to the awards offered will be available. Gallery staff and members of the Council of Management of the Bermondsey Artists’ Group may submit work for the exhibition but will not be eligible for any of the awards.
ADVANCE NOTICE: This is an advance notice for all of the regular contributors to the Annual Open that, in 2009, it will move from its traditional November/ December position in the gallery’s calendar to July/ August. Submission days will be 3 – 5 July 2009 with the Private View on Sunday, 12 July 2009.
