Banks Violette, not yet titled (smashed screen with refrigeration), 2008
Maureen Paley is pleased to present Banks Violette’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, following the group show The Black Album in 2005, and his solo show in 2006 in collaboration with Sun O))). This is the first time Violette has used video in his work, and the projection of an appropriated clip from the Tristar Pictures opening animation in the downstairs gallery will be the central element in the exhibition. Upstairs the show will continue with a large sculptural installation comprising buckled aluminium screens constructed from modular units.
