Femme Fatale I, charcoal on paper, 2008 - Pip Dickens

Pip Dickens solo show of drawings and paintings

Solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by Pip Dickens responding to literature and films that utilize fabric, or apparel, as a key motif within the storyline. Her charcoal drawings exploit cinematic devices such as the letter box format to create disturbingly intimate close-ups of sensually clad sirens of Film Noir. Her paintings depict curtains or segments of apparel as metaphorical 'portraits' of literary characters, for example, Madame Bovary, or Miss Havisham in 'Great Expectations'.
