Susie MacMurray
Susie MacMurray is a Manchester-based artist, whose work encompasses drawing, sculpture, performance and architectural installations. An engagement with materials is central to MacMurray’s practice. Her role is one of alchemist: combining material, form and context in deceptively simple ways to stimulate associations in the viewer’s mind and to elicit nuanced meanings.
Exhibiting at the Art and Design Gallery MacMurray will take the process of drawing as her starting point. A plate-glass window will be curtained with a ‘lethal’ veil of delicate steel wool, tangled rubber doodles are extruding, and ephemeral scattered strands of human hair adhered to the walls. The vulnerability of the body as always hovering in the background of MacMurray’s work.
