Francis Bacon Head VI, 1949, Arts Council collection, Hayward Gallery, London
Francis Bacon was one of the greatest painters of the twentieth century and this unmissable exhibition will bring together the best and most important paintings from throughout his turbulent life.
Bacon is world famous for his twisted images of people and animals, often splattered with paint, displaying raw emotion and considered to be some of the most powerful images in art. The human body is a recurring theme in Francis Bacon’s work and these paintings will be displayed just as they were when they were first made, with many other paintings of animals and visceral landscapes. Exhibition highlights include his infamous portraits of Pope Innocent X and celebrated triptychs such as Three Studies for a Crucifixion, 1962. This exhibition is a treat for fans of Bacon's paintings, and the perfect introduction for people less familiar with his work.

Pretty good! Surprisingly enough, it wasn't as busy as I was expecting... Maybe not as popular as some other exhibitions I've seen at Tate Britain; definitively not for everyone, anyway. Also, having the exhibition upstairs, not where they usually are held, gives it more space. Audioguide is ok, not great, a bit too basic, too obvious... but includes some priceless audio and video clips of Bacon himself speaking about his works (though you can also find them at the BBC Archive).

... but it was really busy when I went and I thought there was just to much work for the space. Definitely worth it though.

Same here, very busy (saturday afternoon), too many painting for that space and i don't think the combination "lighting + glass in front of the paintings" works very well. At least with that specific light. Definitely too much reflection.
Beside that Bacon is a genius. So i guess it's worth the 10 pounds (but may be on a weekday and possibly in the morning).
