'Fear of Flight' A Solo Exhibition by Holly Beth Herbert
Holly Herbert is a promising, emerging artist and curator currently living and working in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. 'Fear of Flight' at Kitch-en Gallery will be her first exhibition in Middlesbrough. The artist says:
"I'm so excited to be exhibiting here in Middlesbrough; especially with the recent opening of the MIMA I really feel that the city has a chance of developing an interesting contemporary art scene. I'm just happy the Kitch-en Gallery and I can play a small part in that."
The art works to be exhibited were all created during her recent 4 month exchange in Seoul, South Korea, and are based on the superstitions that surround the imagery of birds both here in Europe and those in Asia.
The majority of the works are simple line images made using a method of hand printing called mono-type, although Holly often uses other printing methods and hand drawing as well. Each of the works in this exhibition is a signed and framed original.
