We are a dynamic regional Museum and Art Gallery with art, human history and natural history collections displayed across 8 different galleries - world cultures, Egypt, archaeology, local/maritime history and natural history on our ground floor; fine art, decorative art and our Designated Cottonian Collection on our first floor.

We also have a varied and ambitious temporary exhibition programme plus a huge range of events and activities for adults and families on offer throughout the year.

Level access to our ground floor is available for wheelchair users from the rear of our main building (Tavistock Place). Lift access to our upper floor is also available. We also offer fixed and portable audio loops, mens, ladies and accessible toilets, baby changing facilities, buggy parking, free audio files for your MP3 player (visit and free resources for schools (visit

Our shop and cafe is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 4.30pm on Saturdays.

Admission to the Museum and Art Gallery is FREE.
