Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery
Sevenoaks TN13 1LQ United Kingdom
Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space run by Kent County Council to show new work from established and emerging Kent artists. The gallery shows quality contemporary artwork, programming engaging work to raise the profile of contemporary art in West Kent, to stimulate debate and provide the opportunity for the local community to experience diverse work.
In 2010, artists from across the county are invited to submit work addressing the themes reflected in the Greek etymology of the gallery's name: resulting in the curated shows of Kalos (Beauty), Eidos (Form) and Scopos (The Watcher). Alongside these curated exhibitions, certain long standing relationships with local arts communities are maintained and established groups are offered exhibition space between curated shows.
The gallery is situated inside Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope, a building that also houses the library and museum. The traditional boundaries between these three facilities are broken down to welcome in the local community and to stimulate lifelong learning, imagination and discovery.
