About

In this entertaining and wide-ranging talk, cartoonist and political satirist Martin Rowson explores the techniques, practice, and purpose of caricature, the 32,000 year old history of visual satire, the life and work of William Hogarth, and the power of giving and taking offence. The evening is copiously illustrated with images from the Stone Age, via the 18th century, to Martin's own 30-year career as a professional cartoonist for, at one point or another, almost every national daily newspaper. Martin is widely acknowledged as one of the UK's leading cartoonist and political satirists, don't miss this opportunity to meet a true master of his art. Parental advisory note — the talk will contain foul language and fouler imagery, and if people are likely to be offended they should only stay if they specifically want to be offended (which is a large part of the presentation!)
