About

The Curious Duke Gallery in Shoreditch is proud to present The Secret Art Prize. In association with The Whitecross Street party, The Secret Art Prize is a nationwide competition that blurs the edges between Fine and Street Art and seeks to uncover Britain's most exciting artists, finding hidden talent in the unlikeliest places. Unlike many other traditional art prizes, Curious Duke provides entrants with an equal route to success regardless of background, training, style or preferred medium. The Secret Art Prize winner will have their work displayed on a large billboard on the trendy Whitecross Street, with a footfall large enough to rival any art gallery for two months, as well as representation from Curious Duke Gallery, a £500 cash prize and £250 worth of art materials. The highly acclaimed team of judges include; Mary Anne Hobbs, Dabueke Fetta, Susan Mumford, Teddy Baden and Sabina Andron. Made up of art dealers, collectors, radio broadcasters, and street artists, the judges are all extremely passionate and fully supportive of the cause. The Secret Art Prize is in association with The Whitecross Street Party and the ‘Rise of the Non Conformists', a wider initiative that promotes high quality contemporary art and community arts engagement. This thrilling party will take place over two days and will contain live music acts, street performances, food stalls as well as interactive arts and crafts stations. The overall winner of The Secret Art Prize will be selected from the following categories; drawing, mixed media, painting, and print making, with the addition of The People's Choice award which will be voted on by the public via a web page. The judging panel will decide on the overall winner and winners from the sub categories who will go onto become the selected artists for the group exhibition at Curious Duke Gallery this September. Entries close on Tuesday 17th June at Midnight, and the winner will be announced on 24th June 2014 The Whitecross Street Party takes place on the 19th and 20th July 2014 Winning exhibition will run until Sunday 7th September Apply by emailing info@curiousdukegallery.com
