An exhibition of paintings by Joan Dubique

About

Joan Dubique was born in the fishing village of Castle Bruce on Dominica's east coast. Her vivid paintings reflect the colours of her native island and her mature artworks explore the multi-faceted role of the grandmother as, creator, ancestor, supporter, nurturer, protector, teacher, sage, storyteller and guide. In this series of paintings and drawings she explores the Principle of Love, its central role in life and through her Grandmothers' Dances, the universal experience of the world and the harmony of society. She tempts and challenges us to explore our native cultures to gain a much richer experience of life.
