About

WORK and Black Dog Publishing are pleased to invite you to a book launch for Made by Hand: Contemporary Makers, Traditional Practices. To celebrate the launch, three craftspeople featured in Made by Hand discuss their processes, their products, and the place of traditional skill in contemporary design. From 3.30pm, each maker will give a short introduction to their practice; from 4pm there will be an opportunity to ‘meet the makers' and learn about some of the tools and tricks of their trades. The special guest artisans are Tim Chilcott of Green Man Knives; Andreas Hudelmayer, maker of violins, violas and cellos; and Kim Downes of Stewart Hearn London Glassworks. The event is part of London Gallery Day, a programme of special events at London EC1 and WC1 galleries on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 April. On both days, WORK will extend the opening hours of current exhibition Phil Bergerson: American Artifacts until 8pm. Made by Hand: Contemporary Makers, Traditional Practices will be available for the special price of £10 (RRP £16.95) and PAPERWORK Bookshop will offer a discount of 40% off all books and 20% off print editions for two days only. WORK is an independent gallery and event space that presents a varied interdisciplinary programme collaborating closely with innovators in the fields of architecture, art and design.
