Waterless Lithography and Monoprinting with Dolores de Sade

About

This class will use experimental drawing from a still life set up to create prints using waterless lithography and mono printing. Using monoprinting as a starting point, the students will explore ‘thinking flat', expressive mark making and using the presses. We will then move on to create waterless lithograph plates using aluminum plates and silicon resist. This technique allows the artist to print from drawings made directly onto a plate using a range of brush marks, washes and line drawing. It is a low toxic and affordable alternative to traditional plate and stone lithography. This course is suitable for beginners. Participants do not need any experience of printmaking or drawing. Dolores de Sade (ARE) is an artist and graduate of Royal College of Art. Dolores has 20 years of printmaking experience and has been teaching since 2008. She has been awarded the British Institution Award by the Royal Academy and the Birgit Skiold Award for Excellence in artists' books. As well as her own artistic practice, she works on commissions and editions for outside clients and artists, including Christiane Baumgartner, the Royal College of Art and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
