Play Local Symposium

About

This third symposium linked to the Play Local programme considers recent interventions by artists, children and young people in local public space and examines the values that underpin designed environments. - Artist Laura Carle presents her recent work exploring the (mis)uses of designated play spaces with children living on four local housing estates. - Liza Fior, one of the four founding members of the architecture/art practice, Muf, discusses their practice which has developed a reputation for pioneering projects that address the social, spatial and economic infrastructures of the public realm. - Artist Ben Washington discusses his recent collaboration with the SLG's young people's forum, The Art Assassins. At the end of the symposium we'll visit their new project, Arcade Peckham, which will be installed in a unit on the Copeland Road Industrial Estate in Peckham. Whilst designing the new video game set in south London, The Art Assassins were able to redesign their local environment and explore their own narratives to redefine the concept of winning and losing. Booking essential. Book online or call 020 7703 6120. Fans pay less for tickets — Join here from £20 per year
