About

Abingdon and Witney College is a Further Education College with some 1800 full-time and a large number of part-time students attending a range of academic and vocational courses. The art and design courses on both the Abingdon and Witney campuses are staffed by a team of qualified art tutors within purpose-built arts facilities. This exhibition, comprising painted, drawn, photographic and printed works, brings together a rich array of artworks by the art and design teaching team. The work is representative of the different specialisms within art and design at the College. The show has an overarching theme of enquiry, to convey the culture of the art and design courses offered at the College, where questioning and exploration are actively encouraged in classes about contemporary art making. The tutors come from a variety of backgrounds in the field, with many years of experience represented across the team. All are committed to a personal art practice, and share with the students their professional experience in the arts. These tutors are committed to offering students a vision of the importance of the arts in contemporary life, and ways in which young people can develop their personal vision through art making whilst contributing to the discourses of society. The tutors value this opportunity to exhibit together: Jam at the Jam Factory is a celebration of this vibrant, committed and talented teaching team.
