Brian Ansell has had a remarkable forty year career as a stone mason and sculptor. His work is timeless, using traditional and ancient direct carving techniques. The astonishing quality of his workmanship has generated high demand with museums and private collectors. Notably, he was one of the two highly skilled craftsmen to remake the famous Sutton Hoo Stone Sceptre. (Signed copies of his new book "Remaking the Sutton Hoo Stone" will be available to buy in the gallery) Brian Ansell's illustrious career encompassed his important role with the prestigious team of stone masons who worked on the restoration of Lincoln Cathedral and York Minster's Great West Door. Tues - Wed will be viewing days only whilst Thursday - Sat Brian will be present in the gallery working and demonstrating stone carving techniques. Groups should ring in advance as space is limited.
