The Jam Factory presents Once Upon A Time, an exhibition of recent work by Athol Whitmore which explores the relationships between objects and childhood; between nostalgia and memory. Working with found objects and manipulated imagery Athol's work plants a seed with the viewer from which a journey can take place to wherever the work may take them.
My work addresses my interest in childhood and contemporary societies understanding of it. I am a cross disciplinary artist utilising found and sourced objects. I am interested in the emotions related to objects. Nostalgia plays a strong part in my work as it engages the adult into work which is primarily child orientated" - Athol Whitmore
