About

Vivien Lovell is visual arts curator and director of Modus Operandi, an organisation that acts as the creative catalyst in brokering art/architecture commissions and collaborations in the public realm. The lecture will address the interrelationships between visual arts, architecture and landscape architecture and will consider the roles, relationships, scope and creative tensions that surround artists' collaborations with architects and other creative disciplines today. Case studies will include Anish Kapoor's collaborations with architect Amanda Levete and engineer Cecil Balmond; and Herzog & de Meuron's collaborations with Michael Craig-Martin, Thomas Ruff and Ai Weiwei.
