About

I.55 or the girl who swallowed the remnants of a forest by Anaà ¯s Tondeur is the result of an expedition retracing the journey of a specimen from Bart's Pathology Museum in London. The specimen archived as number I.55, is a fragment of graphite swallowed by a young girl at the beginning of the 20th century. Consisting of six sets of drawings and a map, this project was developed on a journey from London to the French Alps in the summer of 2012 to place the graphite specimen in its historical and paleogeological context. The piece was first exhibited at GV Art gallery's Graphite exhibition. It has now been produced as a book, of 142 pages which include the 41 drawings created on the traces of I.55, a map of the expedition as well as a picture of the specimen.
