About
Nikhil Chopra works across a number of media including performance, painting and photography to reflect upon personal histories and India's colonial past. For Shakti, existing documentation of a previous performance by the artist is displayed alongside a curated selection from the Gallery's Indian decorative arts collection and Victorian oil paintings. The artist will also be undertaking a very special live performance over three days (28-30 November) in order to create new work. This exhibition is part of Shakti, a collaboration with Meadow Arts who have invited contemporary artists of Indian origin to respond to and interact with historic collections of South Asian art at venues across the Midlands and Wales, including Powis Castle and Kedleston Hall.
