About

Join us at Dan Graham's Waterloo Sunset Pavilion where there will be talks by Jennifer Thatcher and Bob Dickinson, plus a screening of Wang's latest film 'The Splash and A Last Drop' (2011). Yu-Chen Wang's quasi-fictional book, The Song of the Machines features stories about the artist's life and her practice. Reality and fiction are blurred through the display of new work, documentation, critical texts and creative writing. Her work explores the notion of representation, distortion and transformation, and the transitional space between them. Using a mixture of drawings, objects, installation, performance and film, the artist constructs visual narratives to explore the concept of machines and energy, and art's potential in dreaming of and hoping for a better future. The 96-page artist's book will be published by Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester and distributed by Cornerhouse Publications. Writers include Jennifer Thatcher, Bob Dickinson, Georgia Korossi, Nicolas de Oliveira/Nicola Oxley , Rudyard Kipling, Sophia Crilly and Chelsea Pettitt. The Song of the Machines is supported by Arts Council England.
