Still from Love Train: Michael Nyman
Widely regarded as the UK’s leading contemporary composer, Michael Nyman performed his films scores and other works with his band The Michael Nyman Band at the De La Warr Pavilion in December 2007.
Such was the artistic and popular success of the concert that both Michael and Alan Haydon, the director of the Pavilion agreed that they should collaborate on a creative project in the building.
Just over a year later, in January 2009, the Pavilion presents a programme of art, music and film in the galleries in auditorium.
Gallery 1 will show over 15 short films, made by Nyman himself throughout his career. Some of the films tell a story, others reflect just a moment or a scene that inspired him to pick up the video camera and create.
The Live programme will comprise contemporary jazz and classical music, with a particular focus on the piano.
