A promising work in progress Exhibition by 34 final year illustration students at London College of Communication inside the dark, damp Crypt underneath St Pancreas Church

About

Amidst the catacomb like vaults of the Crypt Gallery underneath St Pancreas Church, Euston, we will be displaying a veritable feast of our work in progress from our final year. We have a genuine interest in pushing what illustration means and what constitutes illustration, exploring everything from traditional drawing to graphic design, moving image, printmaking and sculpture, and using a multitude of media and processes. Just like our delightful teachers have taught us to think, we focus on concept over style, allowing our ideas to inform our stylistic choices, creating work that hopefully pushes the boundaries people expect us to sit within. We've done rather alot of exhibition malarkey over the last years; once we filled a 10,000 square foot warehouse with turf and pretty pictures. Another time we hung all our work from 2000 helium balloons in one of the college galleries, which, long story short lead to a visit from the fire brigade and a ban on balloons of any kind in the college, oops! That aside, we have had some fun with our shows to date and are looking to this one showing off our work in its final year prime. A shop selling a resplendent selection of prints, books and other hand made work will be in the exhibition for the duration of the show, so bring some pennies. Please join us on Thursday the 15th of January, between 6pm and 9pm, for our opening night, or visit from the 16th to the 19th of January, 10am to 6pm.
