'Story of a London Township' kicks off SPACE's exhibition programme for 2009 with several large scale shelters throughout the indoor and outdoor areas. Hand built with recycled materials and varying techniques they include a huge mud hut in the courtyard made with re-used coffee sacks and tons of sand and clay. Its curved walls and cone shaped grass covered roof are as sculpturally resonant as they are symbolic of community solidarity.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of discussions, dinners and workshops for adults and children alike.
